They often seem to forget that companies might want to issue laptops with some central administration and so they break major admin features that Enterprise applications depend upon without replacing them for a year. The screenshot hotkeys are ridiculous combinations. The file manager has panes of horizontal scrolling which would be enough to annoy me, but you also can't directly type a file path unless you Google what the hotkey for that is. The design is a joke to me (remembering though that many like it).
I don't mean to discount your opinion, but rather cleaned out that they're a lot of reasons to dislike it.lots of outdated packages by default (a dev will likely get brew, and brew is okay but can be finicky), awful security (Apple seems to have no urgency for patching even very severe vulnerabilities), and in my personal opinion, an awful UI/UX. Lots of developers and other people like it, and that's fine. All in all, Im so please with Ubuntu 22.04 on this MacBook Hope the above information is useful.
You will have to copy a token code for your Ubuntu account to your device, and that’s it. On your device, from the top righthand corner go to setting/online Account/ Ubuntu Use the Ubuntu one account sign in details to sign in.

And yes, I have received Ubuntu system updates and security update too I have also create an Ubuntu one With your Ubuntu one account (have a look on YouTube about it) You can associate your computer with your to the account and get livepatch updates. It all installed without a hitch and when I restarted the MacBook and wifi was showing, and I connected to it, very happy with install. I installed Ubuntu 22.04, used a USB drive, with an Ethernet cable connected to the MacBook, to give internet access, whilst installing.

Hi, I’m very new to Ubuntu (just a couple of weeks in) I have a 13” McBook (late 2011) that runs Okay Model Identifier: MacBookPro8,1 Processor Name: Intel Core i5 Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz Ram 4 GB 1333 Mhz DDR3 Graphics intel HD 3000 384Mb Would Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz It was running High Sierra version 10.13.6 The MacOS did not get any OS or security update from Apple I asked a similar question to you here(see link) And was informed that Ubuntu 22.04 update come as default I did a full clean install, deleting the hard drive and installed 22.04 LTS from the link above.
